Winter is knocking at the door, but everyone is not fortunate enough to have a
roof over head to have protection from the harsh winter conditions. According to
the Open Government Data (OGD) Platform of Government of India, as many as
10,933 people died during 2001 to 2014 (an average of 781 per year) due to
exposure to the cold weather. Over, 1,600 died in 2016 due to the extreme
weather conditions. All these deaths were preventable.
HAI has launched a nationwide campaign to protect such unfortunate homeless
people. We will reach out to them with blankets or sleeping bags and sweaters.
Homeless rickshaw pullers will additionally be provided with a chain and lock,
so that they could lock their rickshaws and sleep comfortably.
What can you do?
You may make your financial contribution towards this campaign with a
minimum contribution of INR 1,100 or in its multiples.
You may also volunteer with us. As a volunteer, inform us whenever you spot a
homeless person without enough warm cloths. We will courier a packet
containing two blankets and two sweaters to you for further distribution to the
needy.
Let’s join hands to #ShareTheWarmth and help those who are less fortunate
than many of us. Please support us here to reach out to as many needy people as we can.
